Trajectory Energy Partners is filling a Solar Development Project Engineer position to support our development work for solar projects in Illinois. Trajectory Energy Partners works with communities across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic to develop community solar and utility scale solar projects.  

This position will support our work to obtain site due diligence for solar projects by coordinating with external  consultants, reviewing reports, and summarizing findings to inform the design process.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with external consultants to gather and analyze ALTA surveys, environmental and geotechnical assessments and other field investigations to assist with pre-construction planning. 
  • Direct engineering consultants to prepare preliminary engineering layout, single line diagrams, and PVSyst models.
  • Coordinate with landowners and local stakeholders regarding site diligence and other pre-construction items.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess the specific needs of each project.
  • Monitor and track the progress of due diligence and preliminary design activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of site diligence reports.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal project teams on design and development related matters; support project transactional teams with diligence inquiries.
  • Stay updated on changes to due diligence requirements that may impact solar project development.

Experience and Background:

  • Experience in site due diligence, feasibility studies, and land development, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of land development due diligence processes, experience in solar development preferred.
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply due diligence findings to guide design and preconstruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working as a civil engineer or EPC project manager is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.

Position based in Illinois or near Grand Rapids, MI. Flexibility on working from home multiple days a week, and in office typically 2-3 days a week. Travel across the Illinois region to visit the sites and local external consultants and meet with other Trajectory team members on a semi-regular basis. Salary range is $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.
